This wedding was extra special for us to photograph because Lawrence is my cousin. He is one of the kindest people you could ever meet and Anna is the perfect bride for him! I of course loved everything about this day, especially the rich cultural elements which were so fun and beautiful. For Chinese weddings, the groom arrives at the bride’s house before the ceremony and has to “pass” through the bridesmaids to get to see his soon-to-be wife for the first time (she waits in a bedroom). The bridesmaids give the groom a hard time and can request the groom and his guys to do silly tricks, pay money, etc. in order to see her :) I’ve set up first looks many times, but none like this before! Another tradition is the tea ceremony where the couple serves tea to parents, grandparents, and aunts/uncles. In exchange for the tea the family member gives the couple money in a red envelope for good luck. Lawrence and Anna served their immediate family at her home and then continued the tea ceremony at the reception (where she also changed in her traditional gown). Anna had a total of three different gowns for the day which is usual for Chinese weddings. It was a joy and honor to be a part of this day and I hope you enjoy getting a peek at it!
